To complement the Canadian Gift Association's highly regarded Retailer of the Year Awards program, the association has implemented awards honouring suppliers and sales representatives. The association solicits votes from retailers across the country for their top picks.

From its small beginnings as a demonstration at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1949, Abbott has since grown to a 130,000 square foot warehouse, paving its way through history as a leader in the design and giftware industry. Founded by kitchen gadget entrepreneur Ben Abbott whose first product for the company was a pastry cutter, Abbott now offers unique items from all over the globe and has been awarded the 2013 Supplier of the Year Award - Large.

Outset Media Corporation - Supplier of the Year - Medium  

2013 SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR - MEDIUM
Outset Media Corporation


Established in 1996 by David Manga, President of Outset Media Corporation, the company has been awarded 2013 Supplier of the Year – Medium. Manga founded Outset Media Corporation while completing a Business Communications degree at the University of Ottawa, believing that in the age of internet and video games, traditional board games are the best way to encourage family interaction and communication. Based out of Victoria, B.C., Outset Media Corporation is known for its environmental stewardship and for manufacturing some of its games in North America, including best selling game, American Trivia, and the Professor Noggin’s card games.

Unicorn Enterprises Corp., a well-recognized importer and distributor of toys in Canada, has received 2013 Supplier of the Year – Small. Known for being the sole distributor of the challenging Puzzle Sphere game, Unicorn Enterprises Corp. has over 700 points of sales across Canada including gift shops, specialty stores, toy stores, bookstores, museums and science centers. Unicorn Enterprises Corp. also services clients globally in the United States, Brazil, Egypt and Mexico.

Julie Edwards - Sales Representative of the Year - Corporate  

2013 SALES REPRESENTATIVE OF THE YEAR - CORPORATE
Julie Edwards


Julie Edwards, a sales representative for leading Canadian supplier and manufacturer for the giftware industry, Abbott, has been awarded one of two 2013 Sales Representative of the Year Awards. Edwards was also named Sales Representative of the Year in 2009. She has worked in the giftware industry for 16 years and has represented Abbott since October 2010. Serving retailers in the Southwestern Ontario area for 12 years, Edwards is known for her positive and cheerful attitude when interacting and engaging with clients.

Larry Deszcz - Sales Representative of the Year - Independent  

2013 SALES REPRESENTATIVE OF THE YEAR - INDEPENDENT
Larry Deszcz


Larry Deszcz, an independent sales representative from Nepean, Ontario, has received one of two 2013 Sales Representative of the Year Awards. Covering Eastern Ontario, Deszcz represents multiple product lines as an independent sales representative. Finishing a short career as a fulltime musician and working at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Deszcz began his career as an independent sales representative in March of 1986 on a suggestion from his sister and never looked back. Known for using humour in his sales pitches, Deszcz owes his success to the suppliers and retailers who continually put their trust in his work.
