CGTA 2012 RETAILERS, SUPPLIERS AND SALES REPS OF THE YEARThe Canadian Gift & Tableware Association (CGTA) has revealed the winners of its 2012 Retailer, Supplier and Sales Representatives of the Year contest.
The 2012 CGTA Retailer of the Year is Montreal-based gift shop Mortimer Snodgrass (www.shop.mortimersnodgrass.com). Opened in 2001 by public relations specialist Virginia Champoux-Sokoloff and Jay Sokoloff, a lawyer, the store (named after their dog) was an immediate hit. In 2011 the store celebrated its 10th anniversary at an expanded 3000-square-foot location in the heart of historic Old Montreal.
The 2012 CGTA Retailer of Distinction award went to Springridge Farm in Milton, Ont. (www.springridgefarm.com). Located in a restored 19th century barn, the farm's gift shop is a 5000-square-foot two-level space characterized by warm, refinished antique barn-board floors and wooden beams.
Voted on by retailers across Canada, the 2012 Supplier of the Year in the large category is Trudeau. The Supplier of the Year in the medium category is Komme International and the Supplier of the Year in the small category is The Wild Bird Trading Company. Honourable mentions went to David Youngson & Associates in the large category, Elby Gifts in the medium category and Taly Company in the small category.
The 2012 CGTA Independent Sales Representative of the Year is Lisa Ryder of Dundas, Ont. The honourable mention in this category went to Karen Thomson of Brampton, Ont.
The 2012 Corporate Sales Representative of the Year is Craig Hamilton of Trudeau. The honourable mention in this category went to Wayne Canning, also of Trudeau.
